Linked to the Salesforce Transbay Transit Center via skybridge, 181 Fremont is distinguished by its angled top and diagonal bracing. Standing at approximately 700 ft. (802.5 ft., including the spire), the 60-story high-rise begins with five stories of lobby and retail, followed by 33 stories of Class A office space (435,000 SF), one floor of amenities space, and 16 floors of exclusive condo residences (67 units). The project also includes five floors of subterranean parking with 192 spaces.

Due to its innovative structural system, the most visible of which is its shock-absorbing exoskeleton, the award-winning 181 Fremont is considered one of the safest high-rises on the West Coast. Adding to its resiliency, the building is supported by 44 caissons, 5-6 ft. in diameter, that were driven an average of 262 ft. to bedrock. 181 Fremont also contains the world’s first Occupant Evacuation Elevators, enabling inhabitants to occupy the building shortly after a major seismic event.

The urban infill project was constructed on a .35-acre parcel with a zero lot line, surrounded on three sides by other buildings and fronted by a highly trafficked street.

LEED Platinum pre-certified, the project includes a unique curtain wall system, recycled materials, 8% re-use of the demolished building that previously occupied the lot, and the City’s first gray water recycling system.

Design-Build MEPF, steel and exterior curtainwall. Self-perform concrete and rough carpentry.
