Modern Steel Construction discusses SpeedCore, the revolutionary core erection process being used to build Level 1o’s 200 Park project in downtown San Jose. 200 Park, a 19-story high-rise, is the first project in California (and the 2nd in the U.S.) to use SpeedCore for building the structural core. SpeedCore replaces the traditional system of building a high-rise core (reinforced concrete) with a “sandwich-type” system using prefabricated steel plates connected with welded tie bars and later filled with concrete.
