Designed by Heller Manus Architects for the Jay Paul Company, the 54-storey mixed-use tower will soon become a standout set piece amid the San Francisco skyline, alongside the Transbay Transit Terminal that is also under construction.
Constructed without traditional columns, every square inch of the tower’s 435,000 square feet of Class A office space will be put to use. Outfitted with high-efficiency floor-to-ceiling windows, recycled building materials, and a functional green roof, 181 Fremont has been pre-certified LEED Platinum.
181 Fremont’s office workers and residents within the tower’s 67 condo units will enjoy direct access to the Transbay Transit Terminal, a feature which will undoubtedly boost the new development’s appeal among business and residential tenants alike. Set for completion in 2017, 181 Fremont will briefly take the place as the city’s second-tallest tower, behind the Transamerica Pyramid, before being eclipsed by the nearby Salesforce Tower that is currently under construction.
